Join visual artist Anu Välitalo for a creative workshop where participants will draw and paint traditional folk-inspired forest beings and plants using stencils and pyrography on wood and plywood. The artworks, inspired by the 2025 Sommelo theme “The Forest”, will form part of a large, living landscape to be displayed in Sommelo’s 2026 final exhibition. Participants can choose to store their pieces for the exhibition.

Anu Välitalo has created Sommelo’s visual identity and previously exhibited her drawing and sculpture work “The Birth of Worlds” at Juminkeko. She draws on wood, creates animations and illustrations, and teaches art and design at the university level. She also plays in a wind orchestra and often merges visual art with music in her work.
