Näppäri Course

The Näppäri Course is aimed especially at string players as well as players of the harmonium (piano), guitar, and bass. Other musicians who have mastered the basics of their instrument are also welcome.

Teaching takes place in groups, so basic skills on your own instrument are required. Wind instrument players form the wind section of the course. There is no age limit — players of all ages (children, youth, and adults) and all skill levels can join the same group. During the course, participants will play and sing a folk-music–based repertoire from Finland and elsewhere, in a relaxed atmosphere. In addition, participants will get the chance to try playing South African marimbas! The joy of making music together is shared with the audience at the final Näppäri Concert that concludes the course. The course will be taught by Siiri Virkkala together with other Näppäri pedagogues.

It is also possible to apply for a scholarship (free student place), granted on financial grounds by Näppärit ry. More information is available at kaustisennapparit@gmail.com.
