Näppäri Course – For String Players and Accompaniment Instruments
The Näppäri Course is designed especially for string players (violin, viola, cello, double bass) as well as those who play harmonium (or piano), guitar, and bass. Other musicians who have mastered the basics of their instruments are also welcome to join.
Since instruction takes place in groups, participants should have at least basic skills on their instrument. Wind instruments will form their own wind section during the course. There is no age limit—children, youth, and adults of all skill levels are welcome to take part.
The course focuses on playing and singing folk music from Finland and beyond, with a relaxed and enjoyable approach. Additionally, participants will get the chance to explore the South African marimbas! The joy of making music together will also be shared with audiences during the final Näppäri concert.
The course is taught by Siiri Virkkala alongside other Näppäri pedagogues.
