Ritva Nero’s ‘partymetalfolk’ is a fusion of melodies inspired by 19th-century dance styles and the pounding bass and drum elements drawn from metal music. At the band’s gigs, one can witness everything from chanting and mosh pits to traditional folk dances like the masurka.. Formed in 2017, Ritva Nero has performed in countries such as Germany, Sweden, and Switzerland, and their debut album “Immortal Tradition” (Bafe’s Factory) was released in 2022.
At the “Paimenpitti” concert, audience will hear tracks from the “Immortal Tradition” album as well as new compositions. The band lineup includes Santte Salonen (soprano saxophone), Emilia Lajunen (key fiddle), Heikki Kylkisalo (Uilleann pipes), Janne Ojajärvi (harmonica, jew’s harp, overtone flute), Jani Snellman (bass), and Patrik Fält (drums).
“When the unique instruments selected for Ritva Nero’s lineup come together in the hands of skilled musicians to create a unified sound, the result can only be a true spectrum of melodies and harmonies, offering plenty to listen to and immerse oneself in for a long time.” – Aleksi Parkkonen / Kaaoszine 8.2.2022
