Jussi Huovinen Memorial Concert invites listeners into the world of runosong and traditional ballads. The concert, part of the Sommelo Folk Music Festival, features Marita Kaakinen as the principal performer, presenting a program of rune songs and ballads.

Kaakinen is a versatile music professional: a choir conductor, vocal pedagogue, singer, composer, arranger, and artistic producer.

The concert pays tribute to the rune-singing tradition and to the masterful individuals who have preserved and nurtured it.

The concert will take place on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Hietajärvi Heritage House (Hietajärventie 29, Suomussalmi).
