In the open visual art workshop by artist Anu Välitalo, participants will draw and paint, and use stencils and pyrography tools to create various folk tradition entities and plants inspired by the 2026 theme “On the Water” on plywood. Participants can choose to lend their artworks for a few days for exhibition. The creatures and plants created by the participants will form a large living landscape, which will become the final exhibition at Sommelon in 2026.

Anu Välitalo has designed the visual appearance of Sommelon. She has previously held the “Birth of Worlds” drawing and sculpture exhibition at Juminkeko. Välitalo draws, prepares drawing surfaces from wood, creates animations and illustrations, and teaches art and visual design at universities. She plays music in a wind orchestra and enjoys combining music and visual art.
